Pilates is an innovative mind-body exercise developed by Joseph Pilates over 90 years ago that continues to evolve. The Pilates Method strengthens the deep abdominal muscles, along with the muscles closest to the spine. Control of the core is achieved by integrating the trunk, pelvis and shoulder girdle. Utilizing specially designed spring loaded equipment and performing the Mat work series, the Pilates repertoire addresses muscular and structural imbalances by promoting healthy spine and joint alignment. This in turn creates a more fluid, dynamic and efficient movement of the body.
Christina Albetta of Longmont, owner of Pilates Balance in Motion, has been teaching Pilates for thirteen years. Previously trained and licensed as a registered nurse and certified in massage therapy, she has an excellent understanding of the body. After her introductory Pilates training in Boulder, Colorado in early 1996, she continued her education receiving her Physical Mind Institute Certification & completed the Polestar Education Rehabilitation Curriculum. Having attended workshops with many original Master trainers, she is able to offer a Pilates experience which blends classic Pilates apparatus and instruction with the latest in Pilates theory.
Along with experience in yoga, other forms of movement and familiarity with both allopathic and natural forms of medicine, her background brings a holistic approach to her teaching.
Pilates Balance in Motion opened in Longmont, Colorado in 2003 and in April 2009 has relocated to a brand new studio. It is now located near the Fox Hill Country Club, easily accessible by 3rd Ave. or HWY 119 (Ken Pratt Blvd.). Please call for directions.
